What are the recommended thresholds?
The recommended good thresholds are LCP at or below 2.5 seconds, INP at or below 200 milliseconds and CLS at or below 0.1. Assessment uses the 75th percentile of visits. These thresholds describe user experience, not a guaranteed search position.
| Metric | Good threshold | Measures |
|---|---|---|
| LCP | ≤ 2.5 seconds | Loading |
| INP | ≤ 200 milliseconds | Responsiveness |
| CLS | ≤ 0.1 | Visual stability |
How do lab and field measurements differ?
Lab tests run in a controlled environment and help diagnose issues. Field measurements reflect real visitors and their devices, connections and interactions. A strong Lighthouse score does not by itself establish that field thresholds are met.
What usually needs investigation?
Large images, slow initial responses, expensive scripts and unstable layouts need investigation when metrics are poor. Start with the affected metric and representative pages. Changes need to be measured rather than judged only by their appearance.
What should you record before making a decision?
Record the requirements and evidence relevant to this question before accepting a proposal. Distinguish the work needed at launch from ongoing responsibilities. A clear written scope gives both the business and the supplier an agreed basis for review.
- LCP: loading the largest visible content
- INP: responding to interactions
- CLS: unexpected layout movement
- Field data: actual visitor experience
